Heartcode ACLS

Providers will enhance their skills in treating adult victims of cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergencies.  This course emphasizes the:

• importance of basic life support CPR to patient survival
• integration of effective basic life support with ACLS  interventions
• importance of effective team interaction and communication during resuscitation

How do online courses work?

All online certification courses have two parts:

Part 1 [Online Test & Evaluation]

• Series of interactive questions, cases or modules
• Optional review guides, lessons and video segments 

Part 2 [Skills Practice Session & Test]

• Available at our authorized AHA Training Centers

• Pick a time to come perform your skills test

• Certificate of Completion of Part 1 is required

Certifications are good for two years.

Please bring your ACLS Certificate of Completion with you to class.  We must have this certifcate before we can issue you an ACLS certification card.

Heartcode ACLS

Description

HeartCode ACLS is the AHA’s blended learning delivery method for the AHA’s ACLS Course. HeartCode blended learning delivers quality resuscitation education regardless of where providers are located and gives them more control to complete the course at their own pace.

Providers first complete the online portion of HeartCode ACLS and then complete a hands-on skills session with an AHA ACLS Instructor or a HeartCode compatible manikin.

Access to the ACLS Provider Manual eBook is included with HeartCode ACLS. You will be able to access the Provider Manual from within the course.

This product has been updated with new science from the 2025 Guidelines for CPR and ECC and replaces the previous version (20-3554).

How does the 2025 Guidelines version of HeartCode differ from the 2020 Guidelines version of HeartCode?

The 2025 Guidelines HeartCode uses a personalized adaptive algorithm that sets students on the most efficient path to mastery. Students follow a continuously adapting learning path that is personalized by their own inputs: their performance, and their self-reported confidence level related to each probing question. The course content is presented in the form of self-directed learning content, probing questions, and Cognitive Assessment Activities (CAAs).

Online course links can only be used by one student and are non-transferable. Once a course is activated, it will expire after 12 months. Students can pause/exit/re-start the course as often as necessary until completed. Once the online course is completed, students must complete the in-person skills evaluation.
